⚽ Copa Libertadores 2006 Season

This shirt didn't go into a closet — it went onto the field. Giorgieff wore it during the 2005-06 season, when Deportivo Táchira competed in another edition of the Copa Libertadores. A match-worn piece from the most traditional and unbeatable Venezuelan club — 50 years without relegation, the only one in the country's history.

"El Templo Sagrado de Pueblo Nuevo. Fifty years without relegation. The club that Venezuelan football built."

The 2005-06 Táchira was a club with a history in the Libertadores — two years earlier they had reached the quarterfinals undefeated, one of the greatest achievements in Venezuelan football in continental tournaments. This shirt carries that yellow and black history.

The 2005/06 Season — Copa Libertadores

In 2006, Deportivo Táchira competed in the Copa Libertadores due to their qualification in the Venezuelan league. The club regularly participated in the continental competition — their best campaign had been in 2004, when they reached the quarterfinals without losing a single match in the group stage, facing River Plate and Nacional de Montevideo.

It was the usual Táchira: the club from San Cristóbal that, since 1975, had never left the Venezuelan first division — the only club in the country's history to achieve this feat. Giorgieff was part of that squad, and this is the shirt he wore on the field.
