Jorge Luis Díaz Gutiérrez — Uruguayan winger/midfielder based in Spain — joined Numancia on loan from Real Zaragoza in the winter transfer window of the 2015/16 season. Signed by Zaragoza from Albacete in the summer, he lost his place with the arrival of coach Lluís Carreras and accepted the loan to Numancia, a club that suited him due to its proximity to his residence in Cambrils, Tarragona.

CD Numancia — A Club with Soul

Founded in 1945 in Soria — one of Spain's smallest provinces —, Numancia is one of the most fascinating cases in Spanish football. A humble club from a small town, it reached La Liga three times and became a benchmark for sports management and stability in the Spanish second division.

The name comes from Numantia — the Celtiberian city that resisted the siege of the Roman Empire for years before being destroyed in 133 BC. A symbol of resistance that defines the spirit of the club.

Historic Milestones

1945

Official founding in Soria, Castilla y León. Registered with the Aragonese Football Federation by lawyer Mariano Granados. Four years later, first promotion to the Second Division.

1995/96

Playing in the third division, they eliminated Real Sociedad, Racing de Santander, and Sporting de Gijón in the Copa del Rey — only stopping in the quarterfinals against Barcelona. One of the biggest underdogs in the history of the Spanish cup.

1999/00

First season in La Liga. Unlikely survival finishing 17th — with 9 home wins. A historic achievement for the smallest municipality to have a club in the Spanish top flight.

2007/08

Champions of the Segunda División — third promotion to La Liga in ten years. One of the greatest titles in the club's history.

2015/16

Liga Adelante (Segunda División). Biggest score of the season in the league: 6-3 against Tenerife. This is the jersey from that season.
