Aston Villa · Home 2005/06
The claret and sky blue of Villa Park in one of the most tense seasons in the club's recent history. Under David O'Leary, Villa battled against relegation for much of 2005/06, finishing 16th — a campaign that cost the manager his job at the end of the year. Manufactured by Hummel, with the Danish brand's chevrons on the sides, this shirt features the classic lion crest and DWS Investments printed on the chest: the last season under the chairmanship of Doug Ellis, who led the club for 24 years until selling it to Randy Lerner in 2006.

2005/06 · The End of an Era: Doug Ellis Sells the Club
This shirt was worn during "Deadly" Doug Ellis's last season as Aston Villa chairman — a role he held for 24 years (with a brief interruption), making him one of the most prominent and controversial figures in the club's history. At the end of 2005/06, Ellis sold Villa to American billionaire Randy Lerner, ending an era and paving the way for Martin O'Neill's arrival the following season. To wear this shirt is to wear the final chapter of one of the longest chairmanships in modern English football.
⚠️
16th Place · A Season of Survival under David O'Leary
After an inconsistent start to the campaign, Villa flirted with the relegation zone for much of 2005/06, finishing the Premier League in just 16th place — O'Leary's worst result at the helm of the club. Fan dissatisfaction with the relegation battle sealed the Irish manager's fate, and he was sacked at the end of the season. Among the individual standouts, Milan Baroš and young Luke Moore shared the team's top scorer title with 8 goals each.
Claret and Sky Blue · The Classic Hummel with Chevrons
The deep claret body features sky blue sleeves — the club's most traditional color combination since the 19th century — with yellow piping running along the side seams. Hummel's characteristic double chevron appears on the back in sky blue against the claret background. The classic golden lion crest on a claret background, with "Aston Villa" and "Prepared" on the banner, embroidered on the left chest.

Kit Details
Every detail tells a story
Deep Claret · The Club's Historic Color Since the 19th Century
The claret (red wine) body dominates the design — one of the most recognizable colors in English football, associated with Aston Villa since the club's beginnings in the 1800s.
Sky Blue Sleeves · Hummel Chevron on the Back
Vibrant sky blue sleeves contrast with the claret body, and Hummel's iconic double chevron appears in blue on the back — the Danish brand's most recognizable visual signature.
Yellow Piping · Finish on the Side Seams
Golden yellow details run along the side seams of the body and sleeves — a touch of color that historically accompanies the claret and blue of the club's crest.
Lion Crest · DWS Investments on the Chest
The classic crest with the golden lion on a claret background and the "Aston Villa" banner embroidered on the left chest, next to the Hummel logo. DWS Investments, the German fund manager, prominently displayed in the center of the chest.
